Latvian Federation of Food Enterprises is a professional public organisation of the food industry sphere, incorporating associations and unions, food industry enterprises, and other enterprises and associations associated with food production.

The target of the Federation is, by uniting food producers, to stimulate long-term development of the Latvian food industry, contribute in the development of favourable environment for enterpreneurial activities, assist enterprises in improving their competitiveness and prepare for operations within the framework of the European Union.

The Federation co-operates with the ministries of the Republic of  Latvia, the Latvian Development Agency, Latvian Food Centre, Latvian Certification Centre, State Limited Liability Co. "Latvijas standarts'' (Latvian Standart), Confederation of the food and drink industries of the EU, Latvian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and other organisations.

The main directions of activities and functions of the Latvian Federation of Food Enterprises are as follows:

  • Representation of the enterprises' interests both in Latvian and abroad.

  • Representation of the enterprises' interests by participation in work groups preparing drafts of laws and administrative acts.

  • Simulation of the development of food industry and promotion of entrepreneurial activities.

  • Promotion of export activities and establishment of business contacts.

  • Organisation of stands at international exhibitions both in Latvia and abroad, food competitions.

  • Organisation of seminars and training courses.

  • Consultations regarding the problems of quality, standardisation, marketing and legislation.

  • Information on the current events in the food industry.

  • Organisation of activities of the expert council of the food industry sector.

  • Co-operation with the Confederation of the food and drink industries of the EU.

  • Work within the EU business suppor programmes.

Any food industry enterprise may become a Federation member.
